Student nurse

During the pandemic I've realized I need to really focus and take care of myself. Going to nursing school and trying to do well while the world was unraveling was really hard for me and my mental health. I had to start on an SSRI to get my anxiety under control. I realized I needed to put less pressure on myself and remind myself that a nurse with As vs a nurse with Bs and Cs is still a nurse and does not reflect how good my patient care is and how competent I am.

I do wish the school was more supportive of ALL the things that were happening, not just the pandemic. I wish they acknowledge the BLM movement and social unrest that was happening. I think they were really silent about it all and didn't think about how it was affecting the student base.

Hi Angelica:

Thanks for joining our conversation and sharing your experience. What would you like to see the school do? Our goal here is to think about how schools can be more supportive of students and graduate nurses who can be more resilient. It sounds like you have ideas about how to do that. We would love to hear more!
