Resilient Nurses

Making sure to prioritize self-care and time for activities that bring me joy have been instrumental in my getting through the pandemic. I believe starting these positive habits now during school will help me remember to utilize them once I work as a nurse. The most valuable and usable skill I have learned is how to compartmentalize my work life and personal life so that I don't take work home with me mentally. I think this is important because a bad day at work doesn't mean my whole day is ruined.

Hi Valerie:
Thanks for joining our conversation. What types of self-care do you practice? How did you develop that approach? Is there some way your teachers could help students create that kind of balance?

Great idea! What do you do to let go of the work or school day as you transition?
