Knowing your resources and when to use them was a huge aspect of nursing school. I’ve found that it’s been easier said than done. Learning communication on all levels of care impacts every aspect. Increasing effective communication has impacted my day while being under a preceptor. In addition, to gaining my preceptors skills in communication and expertise in knowing when to follow through in using proper resources.

Hi Alexandra:

Thanks for joining our conversation. What did you learn in school about knowing your resources and when to use them? What was missing from those lessons that made it "easier said than done"? And how about communications skills? Did you learn enough in school or have you had to develop those skills on your own as a new nurse? How could the school or your teachers have helped you more?
