Being a Nursing Student During a Pandemic

The pandemic has taught me a lot about myself not only in a personal sense but also in the academic setting as well. I had to adapt to a online learning format in a manner of a couple of days while doing my prerequisite courses before attending Hopkins, and found ways that worked for me. One of the main strategies is used to acclimatize and contribute towards my resilience through this pandemic was to take utilize a daily post-it note system. I used it write out all the things I wished to accomplish that day and then I would prioritize what needs to be done first. This, as miniscule as it may seem, will help me as a nurse because one of the main things we need to do when juggling multiple patients is to prioritize out time and figure out what is the most important thing to do.

HI Prianka:

Thanks for joining our conversation. How did you develop that system? What, if anything, do you think nursing schools could do to help students create those kinds of coping mechanisms?

Thanks for joining! Those small steps become big ones over time! What helps you remember what is most important?
