The word I continue to hear from our staff to describe how they're feeling is 'heavy' - I am worried that we are exhausting our human resources, and that we are carrying the weight of what we see with us at work and at home. I'm worried that the unfortunate, but sometimes necessary changes to the quality of care we provided due to crisis conditions will be have a lasting impact on our staff. I've gradually noticed a shift in myself and others toward leaning on their work community for support, because in many ways, those outside of our field cannot understand the complexity and challenges we have faced.

My team has sustained me. Finding joy outside of work has come from spending time in nature, being present with my family and especially with my children. Thinking about finding better ways to show up for my staff has been empowering, and cultivating a gratitude practice has helped me maintain resilience and perspective.

Ashly- Heavy. That one word really carries "weight" and gives me a feeling of being pulled down. All the more reason to find multiple avenues for us to build our resiliency. Nina
